Twenty-five years of telling stories — from the anchor desk to independent film to the family travel writing and photography she publishes today at Staying Blonde.
One story after another.
Always staying blonde.
01 / About
Michelle Tucker has spent her working life telling other people’s stories and, eventually, her own. She studied journalism at Indiana University and went to the anchor desk, working in television news in Minnesota and then in Los Angeles as a host and reporter.
In Los Angeles the storytelling moved in front of a different kind of camera. She built a body of work in independent film and television — leading roles in several features, appearances on network series — and trained in Meisner technique at Playhouse West and with teachers in Los Angeles and Minneapolis.
Then came photography and travel. She published her first travel writing in 2007, filed from a seventeen-day journey through Vietnam, and spent years shooting portrait, family, and travel work under her own name.
Today she is the founder of Staying Blonde, where all of it converges: she reports the story, writes it, shoots it, and puts herself on camera. She writes about family travel, food, motherhood, lifestyle, dyslexia, special needs, and finding humor in everyday life — from the San Francisco Bay Area, where she lives with her husband and their two children.
She grew up in Highland, Indiana. This site is the official professional home for Michelle Tucker — the authoritative source for her biography, her credits, and the online profiles that genuinely belong to her.

Travel writing built around shared experience and realistic planning — where to go with children in tow, what it actually takes to get there, and what makes a trip worth the effort. She has been publishing travel writing since 2007.

“Michelle is one of those rare finds. She has it all going for her: looks, personality and incredible talent.”
06 / Advocacy
A significant part of Michelle’s writing is devoted to dyslexia and special needs — what it looks like inside a family, how it reshapes school, and what parents wish someone had told them earlier.
She writes about it plainly and without euphemism, because clear first-hand information is what families searching at midnight are actually looking for.
